InCode is a genetic study aimed at reducing the risk of suffering cardiovascular diseases.<\/p>\n
Cardiovascular diseases are one of the main causes of death in the world today.<\/p>\n
Fortunately, most of these diseases can be prevented by acting on the principle risk factors, such as obesity, hypertension, high cholesterol, diabetes, smoking, sedentary lifestyle, stress…<\/p>\n
We currently know that 40% of all cardiovascular diseases are due to inherited genetic factors.<\/p>\n
This means that some people are more susceptible than others to suffer cardiovascular diseases because of the information contained in their DNA (genetic profile), and that this risk may be present among different members of a single family.<\/p>\n
The advantage of being aware of the individual risk of suffering cardiovascular diseases through genetic profile analysis is that personalized and more adequate preventive measures can be put in place.<\/p>\n
Having a genetic test performed is recommended in the following cases:
\n\u25e6Individuals who are overweight or obese.
\n\u25e6Individuals with risk factors in their clinical history (high glucose or cholesterol, hypertension, smoking, old age…)
\n\u25e6Individuals who are apparently health but with a family history of cardiovascular disease before the age of 55.
