Description
The Endoscopic Repair of a Gastric By-pass using the OverStitch Endoscopic Suture System from Apollo Endosurgery, consists of performing an endoscopic reduction of the dilated gastrojejunal anastomosis, without the need to make external incisions.
Through an endoscope introduced through the mouth, sutures are made in the gastrojejunal anastomosis to reduce its size, achieving a slower passage of food, causing early satiety and delaying the onset of hunger.
Using this endoscopic suture system, the stump or gastric reservoir can also be reduced if it is excessively dilated.
The method is not painful, although it may cause some gastric discomfort, and usually involves a rapid recovery that allows the patient, in most cases, to begin a practically normal life 24-48 hours after the procedure.
