Endoscopic Colon Capsule

Capsule endoscopy is a non-invasive diagnostic method that explores the large intestine in a minimally invasive way, without the need for sedation or outpatient admission.

Capsule endoscopy has been a great advance in allowing visualization of the large intestine, making it possible to diagnose many lesions that until now went unnoticed.

Description

The endoscopic colon capsule measures 31×11 millimeters and has two micro cameras that allow images to be captured for the study of the colon.

The capsule is taken orally.

Upon arrival at Clínica ServiDigest, sensors are placed on the patient’s abdomen to record the images. The recorded images will then be downloaded to a computer for the medical specialist to study, evaluate and issue a report.

The process of preparation and ingestion of the capsule requires the patient to go to the Digestive Service fasting for 6-8 hours (after specific preparation with a diet and some sachets with evacuating action to achieve intestinal cleansing).

Finally, the Endoscopic Capsule will be eliminated through the rectum during the first week.
