Echoendoscopy is an examination that combines endoscopic imaging with ultrasound imaging, which is used to evaluate lesions located in and around the wall of the gastrointestinal tract.

Echoendoscopy allows direct visualization of the interior of the esophagus, stomach, duodenum, rectum and sigma, as well as the surrounding structures: mediastinum, pancreatic region, biliary tract and pelvic cavity.
This endoscopic device has a built-in ultrasound scanner at the tip, allowing normal endoscopic vision and ultrasound vision of the entire environment, which aids and facilitates diagnosis.
When necessary, the Echoendoscopy examination is complemented with a fine needle aspiration puncture (FNA), a minimally invasive test that allows obtaining tissue samples to determine their origin or possible malignancy, avoiding the practice of open biopsies.
